We went to Vegas to celebrate Elliot’s first birthday and stayed in a giant, golden hotel that played like this chill, techno house music with Billie Holiday samples on top (can you get more swank than that?). We took Elliot swimming one day and she practically refused to leave the pool. But, as you can see, the sun was really bright (and really reflecty off that giant gold building to our right) and we were afraid her white little baby skin was going to fry… Too bad. She really liked swimming.

Sometimes Suzie really dolls out Elliot. And this one day (pictured above), for some reason (blame the hat?), had almost embarrassing results. We went to Costco and for like 40 minutes nearly everyone we passed would gasp or laugh or smile and wave or make one of those tilted-eyebrow, open mouth “oooh” faces people make when they see something cute or sweet. I mean, it was out of control! And, I know that Elliot is really a pretty cute baby—objectively—and this isn’t written to say that she’s any more or less cute than any other baby, but that day I seriously felt like all eyes were on her. And as we left, I was telling Suzie how weird that was and then—literally mid-sentence—and older man (maybe 50s or 60s-ish) shouted across the parking lot, “Hey! You have an exceptionally cute baby!” How bizarre…

One of my very first favorite pictures of Suzie looked a lot like this—we took it on our first trip up to Seattle when we fell in love and I just stared at that picture on my desktop background all during class, thinking, “she is so hot.” Well, I still am in love with her and she’s still hot.

elliot put on some of my basketball shoes and walked around the house going "boom! boom! boom!" with each step like she was Godzilla or something. Oh, and most of the time she had a toy lipstick in one hand and occasionally she would stop and pretend to put some on her lips. Where does she learn this stuff?
And one last one that I don’t have a picture for, but it’s funny and so I want to remember it. One night I was working late on my portfolio while Suzie and Elliot were sleeping the next room over. As I was working, I sneezed. And while I’m not the quietest sneezer in the world (like Amalia) I did try mute it as much as possible. But, right after I sneeze, I hear this tired little voice from the next room… “Blesshyoo”

Three cheers for half-asian wives!
Hip hip!
cute wife=cute baby. and it doesn't help that they both have such fun personalities. i was just thinking how much I love how much elliot laughs at my jokes, but then i was thinking she probably inherited that from her mother who also has a great laugh and always goes out of her way to make other people feel good.
